For the second year the Spanish Federation of Hotels (FEHR) and the Spanish Federation of Tourism Journalists and Writers (FEPET) will choose among the 52 Spanish capital cities, and Merida and Santiago de Compostela (who hold the county town of the corresponding Autonomous Community) the ones to be considered Spanish Capital of Gastronomy 2013.
Last year, when this new award started, Logroño was the city that won the title.
The application period opened on July 2 and until September 21 the mayors of these cities can submit a Candidature File in developing arguments that they consider will make them worthy of this award.
On 27th September, coinciding with the celebration of World Tourism Day, will be held a public event where all the cities wich have been presented and opt for the title will be revealed.
However, the jury will not communicate their decision until December, and it will be a Jury-Technical Committee who will be in charge of deciding what will be the Spanish Capital of Gastronomy in 2013.
